Reception Seating…Which One Is Right For You?!

Determining your reception seating can be one of the most tedious aspects of planning your wedding!  How close should your parents be to you and your honey?  Where do you put your rowdy college friends?  Who should you pair with your boss?  The list can go on and the decisions are hard…especially now that reception seating is being taken to the next level!  That’s right, it’s not your standard all round table seating arrangements in perfect formation anymore.  Wedding reception seating is now designed around many factors; how many guests you have versus your reception space, how formal your wedding is and most of all, your personalities…just to name a few!

Take a look at some of these unique ideas and if they may or may not be perfect for your big day!

Don’t be afraid to mix guest tables in with various lounge areas.  This is great for smaller weddings and for those that really want their guests to be able to mingle with one another.  It is a great escape during dancing without having to sit at your dinner table!

If you are planning an outdoor or indoor reception, pairing multiple estate tables for a great family feel is fantastic and always looks stunning!  Just make sure that all of your chairs, napkins and dinnerware are all lined up or you will notice!

This is called an Estate Table!  There is often some confusion on the difference between and estate and head table.  Quick rule of thumb:  and estate table is a long table that has seating on two sides and a head table is a long table that only has seating on one side.

These three photos are all at Glendalough!  The top photo you will will notice our square tables.  We absolutely love using square tables mixed in with our round tables to give a little dimension to the room.  Our outdoor pre-function space is a great way to enjoy our beautiful grounds before your reception begins.  Cocktail tables allow for guests to mingle around during cocktail hour while still having a place to set tier appetizers and drinks!

We hope you enjoyed these unique ideas!

Happy Planning!
