Adorable Engagement Shoots!

Yay, you are engaged!  Such an amazing moment when the man you love so much gets down on one knee as he asks you to be his forever.  You wish you could freeze that moment for the rest of your life!  Well, there is a way to capture your young, exciting love in the most innocent stage it will ever be in.  For most, before you share sicknesses, kids, busy schedules and everyday real life together as a married couple.

So, is an engagement photo shoot for you?  Not every couple chooses to take engagement photos but I highly encourage you to consider it!  Not only is it a fantastic way to bond together as a newly engaged couple but it comes with many perks!  To be able to look back in 20 years and remember your love in it’s most early stages is just priceless.  You also get the opportunity to work with your wedding photographer before your wedding day.  This can be key because it gives you the chance for you and your honey to get to know your photographer so that you will be extra comfortable with each other on wedding day.  It also helps you and your fiance bond and become comfortable in front of a camera which is not something you do everyday together.  This can be important to get the best romantic chemistry in your wedding day shots!

Just Engaged! Engagement Parties

Congratulations, you are engaged!!  Getting engaged is the first of many memorable and exciting moments that you and your fiance will share together in you journey through life together.  You will now make decisions together, share sorrows and joys, find peace when in each other’s company and grow as individuals which will continue to bring you stronger together as a couple.  So now that the big moment has happened, what is next?  Well, the first four months following an engagement is probably the most critical time in planning your wedding!

This part 1 of our “Just Engaged” segment is the just the first piece of advice that you will need in the months right after your big engagement.  Once you have shared the exciting news with your closest friends and family, one of the first things that you want to do is throw an engagement party; either planned or a surprise!  Engagement parties have fallen by the waist side over the past few years but they are beginning to make an appearance again in a BIG way!

Engagement parties are the perfect place to begin your love story and share it with your family and friends.  It is a great way for everyone to get to know the two of you not only as individuals but to see how you are as a couple as well.   A perfect opportunity for you to ask or reveal who you have chosen to be in your bridal party or a special part of your big day.  You want to keep in mind that whomever is invited to the engagement party should ultimately be invited to the wedding.  I would stick to your closest family and friends for the engagement party!

Start putting together a guest list and send out invitations!  If you have already decided on a color scheme or theme for your wedding, this the first chance you will get to introduce that.

Not So Cheesy Bridal Shower Games

Planning a bridal shower can be a daunting task.  As the host of the shower, you want to make sure you plan a celebration the bride will love.  There are many details to planning a perfect bridal shower and in my opinion the hardest thing to plan are games to play with the guests.  Depending on the game you choose it can determine the success or failure of the shower! Here are a few fun, non-cheesy game ideas your guests (and the bride) will love!

My favorite non-cheesy game is the “He Said, She Said” game.  There are a few variations of this game and you can customize the questions to fit the couple.  The first way to play this game is to ask both the bride and groom questions prior to the shower and ask the bride at the shower to see which of their answers match.  Guests can guess before the shower and see how many they got right.  This way reminds me of the Newlywed Game…so much fun I promise guests will be laughing.

Or if your couple is on Facebook all the time, have guests guess whether the bride or groom wrote the quote!

You can also pass out questions to the guests on how well they know the bride!  See how many they get right when the bride answers the questions during the shower!

Another great game is a bridal themed Pictionary.  Split the shower in to two teams and sit back and let the laughs ensue!

Do you remember playing the game Memory as a kid?  Well, this bridal version can be memories that each guests write before the shower about the bride and each memory is matched to the guest attending!

Another fun game is “How Old Are You?”  This game involves getting pictures of the bride at different ages and asking the guests to guess how old the bride was in each picture. Person who guesses most correct wins!
