Jason and Ashley Engagement Photos

We are so excited to share one of our Glendalough Manor brides’ engagement photos!!  One of the most important parts of planning an engagement shoot is to make it personal. Choose a place that means something to you or a theme that represents your personalities. We love to hear our couples love stories and it makes it even better to see that love shown in their engagement photos.

Jason and Ashley met five years ago at work and after a few years both were transferred to Colorado.  Two years later Jason proposed to Ashley at the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.  After living in Colorado the couple has grown to love the outdoors and it felt like the perfect place to have their engagement photos.  Plus, Jason proposed in the mountains so Ashley said “it just felt right”.   Their engagement pictures were taken in Fort Collins, Colorado at the Colorado State University, at the park and up in the Rocky Mountain National Park.  The couple fell in love with the background of the expansive lawn and trees in the park and then finished their more “formal” pictures up in the mountains!

Ashley says her journey to find a venue wasn’t that hard.  She knew she wanted a venue close to their families in Georgia. Ashley had been to a wedding at Glendalough Manor almost six years ago and was extremely impressed and thought about Glendalough Manor as soon as she was engaged.  After visiting and seeing all the upgrades that have been done over the years she knew for sure it was the perfect place! Living so far away, she knew that planning a wedding wouldn’t be easy but Ashley says “Glendalough has made it just that easy! Having a vendor day arranged to book what I call, “the major pieces of the puzzle” has been so easy and stress free.  Plus, the staff is amazing and always willing to answer questions and accommodate my needs as much as possible.”  Ashley said she can’t wait to celebrate her wedding in such a beautiful and magical place in May of 2013!

Creative Photo Booth Backgrounds!

These days, photo booths are the new staple at weddings and for good reason.  They are so much fun for the guests as well as a great favor and keepsake for them to take home!  Getting a photo booth from a company can be a little bit of a squeeze on the pocket book since they range from $600-$1200.  If you are looking for a unique photo booth that won’t break the bank try making your own and hiring someone to take the photos.  This could save you a bundle!

Making your own DIY photo background is simple and can be made from a large sheet of plywood and a few 2x4s.  You can cut out a whole and place a large frame for guests to stand behind.

My favorite take on this is to make the wall look like a wall of photos in a home and put a few empty frames so a group of people can take a photo instead of one or two people!

If this looks like a little too much work for you, try something a little easier to make.  Anything you can think of that can make a background will work.  Even a curtain or sheet can be hung for an instant photo booth background!

Use old shutter and doors as a simple background with a few chairs or couch for guests to sit in!

Streamers or paper lanterns arranged close together make an easy and adorable background!

For an outside wedding try hanging a large frame for a ready made photo area!

And don’t forget about the props!  Even a simple background can make great pictures when you have props for guests to have fun with!

Glendalough Manor Real Wedding: Ross and Whitney

On October 20, 2012 Ross and Whitney were married in the beautiful gardens of Glendalough Manor surrounded by one hundred and eighty of their closest friends and family.

The bride and her bridesmaids arrived to get ready in the bridal suite at Glendalough Manor and finish getting ready before pictures.  The bridesmaids toasted to the day with champagne and mimosas.  All of the bridesmaids signed the bottom of the brides beautiful Badgley Mishka shoes for her “something blue”.

Her bridesmaids helped Whitney get in to her wedding gown.  She  chose an all lace gown with a sweetheart neckline and wore a fingertip length veil with lace around the edges.

The bride and groom chose a very soft and romantic color palette of champagne and blush pink.  The bride carried a bouquet of assorted pink and ivory ranunculus and roses made by Blueberry Springs Florist.  The bridesmaids wore champagne satin floor length gowns and carried bouquets similar to the brides.

The groomsmen wore traditional black and white tuxes champagne spray rose boutonnieres.  For an extra touch they all wore matching argyle socks!

The ceremony was held in the gardens and pomander balls were hung in coordinating flowers across the pergola for the bride and groom to stand under during the ceremony.  I love this picture of Ross’ reaction when he see’s Whitney walking down the aisle.

After the ceremony the guests were welcomed in to the Wicklow Ballroom for a night of dancing and celebration.  The bride created her own table numbers for a personal touch and was able to reuse some of the bridesmaids bouquets for centerpieces on the tables.  Whitney chose a four tiered fondant wedding cake from Cutie Pies and Cakery decorated with pink ribbon around the bottom of each layer. They also offered the sweetest cupcakes iced in pink and ivory icing to their guests.

One of A Kind Music Productions kept the party going all night long and the couple left in a vintage Pontiac convertible.

Congratulations to Ross and Whitney from everyone at Glendalough Manor.

Also a special thank you to Blackbird Photography for these amazing photographs!
