Wedding Trend 2013: Ombre Bridesmaids

One of my favorite trends that emerged last year and continuing in to this year is ombre bridesmaid dresses.

If you still don’t know what ombre is, it is shades of the same color from lightest to darkest.  Bridesmaids are now choosing the same color bridesmaid dress but in different shades to best compliment their skin tone.  It is so difficult to find a color that looks good on every girl in your wedding so why not let them choose the shade that looks best on them?!

You can even ask your bridesmaids to pick out their own dresses in a certain color just making sure they all choose different shades.  How great would it be to not have the stress of choosing a dress that makes everyone happy?

We know this trend may not fit every wedding but can be a beautiful and unique option for a bride that wants something a little different for her bridesmaids!

Glendalough Manor Real Wedding: Ellen and Lamar

“Simple Elegance”

May 26, 2012

Ellen and Lamar were married in the gardens of Glendalough Manor.  The couple met through mutual friends in college and dated for 8 years before finally tying the knot!

The blushing bride and her bridesmaids had a great time in Molly’s Place, Glendalough Manor’s bridal room, getting ready for the ceremony.  Ellen wore a stunning strapless gown by Nicole Miller with crystal detailing at the bodice, waist and skirt of the gown.  She accented the gown with teardrop crystal earrings to match the dress.   One of my favorite parts of the wedding was the blush colored bridesmaid dresses from BCBGeneration.  I love the uniqueness and the femininity of the lace top and ruffled skirt!! Ellen and her bridesmaids carried a simple bouquet of all white hydrangeas adding the perfect touch to their dresses.

Also check out the brides ruffled shoes to match her bridesmaids…perfection!

The guys chose traditional tuxes with the groom wearing a black bow tie and the groomsmen wearing silver bow ties.

The couple decided to decorate the ceremony arbor and pergola with white round hanging lanterns.  Such a simple yet beautiful way to decorate the outside ceremony location.  They gave programs made in to a fan to all of the guests for the outside ceremony to help keep them cool. Love this idea for an outside garden wedding! Ellen says the ceremony was her favorite part of the wedding day.  “Just walking down that beautiful aisle with my family all around me and my future husband watching me as I walked towards him was an unforgettable moment.”

One hundred and fifty of the couples close friends and family were also invited to the reception in the Wicklow Ballroom.  The bride chose classic ivory linens and napkins and used silver tall vases with a bouquet of blush pink spider mums.

The bride chose her favorite cake from Publix as her wedding cake and placed them on risers at different heights.

The couple says their advice to future brides is to “Enjoy every moment because it flies by so fast!”

Congratulations to the happily married couple from everyone at Glendalough Manor.  Thank you for letting us be apart of your special day!

A special thank you to Your World In Stills Photography for the capturing this beautiful wedding and providing us with these pictures!

A Touch of Sparkle: Sequined Bridesmaid Dresses

If you want to add some sparkle to your wedding, why not have your bridesmaids shine in sequined bridesmaid dresses?  Bridesmaids dresses have evolved over the years and are getting better and better. The newest trend in bridesmaid dresses is sequins and I am in L-O-V-E with these sequin gowns!

Choosing a floor length all sequin dress will give you a dramatic look.  These dresses make a bold statement in all sequins but stay classic with the silhouette.

Or choose a gown with only touches of sequins for a less dramatic look.  Be careful when choosing sequin gowns that you choose the right silhouette especially when choosing a short bridesmaid dress.  If it is too short or showy it won’t look classy.

I  love the idea of wearing a belt over a sequin dress to match the wedding colors!

What do you think about these sequin wedding gowns?  Should this trend stay or go?

Leave us your thoughts!

Happy Planning!
