Ten Creative Food Stations

Do you want to make your wedding unique?  One way to leave a lasting impression on your guests is with your reception food.   Having fun and creative food stations is a great way to make your wedding stand out.  When deciding on a food station try to think outside of the box.  Think about your favorite foods and how you can create a station that will be interactive and fun for your guests.  Here are some of our favorite food stations that you won’t see at every wedding!

Grits Bar

One of my favorite food stations for a southern wedding is a grits bar! Have guests add their favorite toppings like bacon, peppers, onions and cheese.

Popcorn Bar

A popcorn bar stocked with different types of popcorn makes a great station and can even double as a favor for guests.  Include candies, peanuts and chocolates to eat with the popcorn for a perfect treat!

What’s for Dinner? Breakfast!!

I love the idea of having a breakfast wedding!  Whether you are getting married in the morning, afternoon, or evening breakfast is always a fun and delicious choice.

Pancakes, eggs, waffles, biscuits…..Mmmmm makes my mouth water!  Who doesn’t love breakfast food?  I can promise you your guests will enjoy eating something other than the same chicken dish that they are usually served at every other wedding.

Take a look at these breakfast themed wedding and grooms cakes incorporating donuts!

Plus, a bloody mary station works best at a breakfast wedding!

Keep in mind, if you decide to get married in the morning/afternoon, most venues will give discounted rates for earlier time slots.  Many brides want evening weddings, so this can end up saving you a bundle.

Also, if you decide to have an early wedding time and serve breakfast you have the rest of day after wedding to enjoy family, friends and each other.  Your guests, in some cases, have traveled hundreds of miles to come and see you get married.  For most brides and grooms you barely get to say hello at the wedding  with all the festivities.  A breakfast wedding allows you to meet up with those family members after the wedding to enjoy their company. (Plus you can hear all their thoughts on the wedding! ;))

What do you think about breakfast weddings?

Would you serve breakfast for dinner at your wedding?

Fun Food Stations!

Who isn’t tired of eating the same baked chicken, green beans and mashed potatoes at every wedding? I know I am!!  I recently attended a wedding reception where the bride offered themed food stations for dinner.  I have to say it was one of the most fun and interesting wedding dinners I had ever had that I couldn’t help but share some of these ideas with you!

You may not like the idea of only offering food stations at your wedding but I think even if you decide on a buffet dinner you can always add one or two of these stations to your menu to make it a little more interesting. Or some of these stations would work great as a late night snack after a long night of dancing!

One station that would be a great addition to any buffet menu is the Mashed Potatoes Station!   Guests are offered whipped mashed potatoes with an assortment of toppings to choose from including cheese, broccoli, gravy, bacon and much more.  The best part is they are served in these martini glasses which look so yummy once prepared!

A new station I love is a burger and fry station!  How cute are these mini sliders?  Guests can choose if they want a beef or veggie patty and add their own condiments including choice of cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato.  Add some hot dogs by this slider station and some fries and onion rings you have an all-American themed station that guests won’t be able to get enough of!

If you are having a more casual wedding, I like the idea of a grilled cheese or panini station.  Serve with some tomato soup and you have yummy meal all at one station. Grilled cheese sandwiches and panini’s are also great for a late night snack!

If you want an Italian themed station you can choose to have a chef attended pasta station where guests can choose the type of pasta, sauce and toppings and it is cooked in front of them.  Or you can have an assortment of pizzas! Yum!

And to wash it all down you can have a fun themed drink station!

Make sure to check out tomorrow’s blog on delicious dessert stations!! Trust me they will make your mouth water!
