Teal and Pink Wedding Colors

I have a confession…I have never been a huge fan of pink at weddings.  My distaste for pink probably comes from seeing so many overdone pink weddings. I have seen brides use pink everywhere…..pink linens, pink dresses, pink lights, pink flowers (you get the picture) but I have to admit I am in love with pink paired with teal.  It is a fabulous color combination for a garden, beach or formal affair!

When choosing pink and teal for your wedding colors I would also suggest choosing a white or ivory to soften such a bold color combination.

If you are having a more formal affair, lighting in a soft pink or even teal will add glamour to the reception.

Look how changing the boldness of the pink completely changes the “feel” for the wedding?  So vintage and beautiful!

You can even throw in hints of purple and red in the flowers to give it a different look.

It even looks ah-mazing to use green accents (like the below vases) as a complimentary color to the teal and pink!

These gorgeous invitations are the perfect way to show off your color scheme before the wedding!

What do you think of pink and teal for wedding colors?  We would love to hear your comments!

Summer Wedding Colors: Yellow!

Yellow is the new favorite color for summer weddings.  Yellow is such a happy color and what couldn’t be a more happy occasion than a wedding?  Yellow is great by itself but also a wonderful complimentary color.  Pair it with almost any other color in the color spectrum and you have the perfect wedding colors  for summer.  I have listed some of the hottest color combinations that include yellow for summer 2012.

Yellow and teal is one of the newest pairings and it so surprisingly beautiful together.  It reminds me of a nautical themed wedding but with a new modern twist by using teal instead of navy.

Another beautiful color combination is yellow and gray.  Using gray and yellow as your wedding colors gives off a modern and sophisticated feel. Many brides only want to use yellow for an afternoon wedding but pairing it with gray is a perfect color pairing for an evening wedding as well as an afternoon wedding.

If you like yellow and gray for an evening wedding, you may love yellow and black.   Done correctly black at a wedding will always give a formal feel but pairing it with yellow softens the black and gives it a lighter summer feel.  If you decide to use yellow and black I would suggest pairing it with a patterned black damask or print to give it some texture and depth.

I can not forget to include yellow and green. This is such a classic pairing and is a beautiful match for an outside wedding.  Using yellow and green will give off a very organic and earthy feel to the event. Using fruit like lemons and limes to decorate your guest tables is also a great way to save a little money on centerpieces…especially if you create the centerpieces yourself!

I hope you have like all the yellow inspired weddings!  Are you having a yellow wedding?  We would love to hear what you think of these color combinations!

Happy Planning!

2012 Wedding Trend: Ombre!

Ombre is a french word meaning shaded or graduated in color. Up until a few weeks ago I had heard this word in fashion but never paid too much attention to it, until I posted the picture of the ombre petal aisle runner mentioned in our blog Unique Aisle Runners.  For weddings you will start seeing this trend in wedding cakes, linens, flowers and even wedding dresses.  If you want a monochromatic color scheme, using an ombre pattern will give more of an edge to your single color tones.

My suggestion would be to go to your local hardware or paint store and start choosing paint swatches in the colors you like best. Most paint swatches are displayed from the lightest to darkest shade (ombre) so it will be easier to choose some of the color combinations you love.

One of the most popular ways you may see ombre at a wedding is with the wedding cake!

Sometimes the inside of the wedding cake will also be in an ombre pattern with multiple flavors in each layer.  Just another way to add to this Ombre themed wedding!

Flowers are another way to use an ombre pattern from lightest to darkest on the tables.  I think long estate tables really make this look pop!

I love the idea of renting or even making your own ombre runners to compliment the floral centerpieces.

And don’t forget about the fashion to match!  Bridesmaid can be in dresses of varying shades ranging from lightest to darkest.  Just make sure if you choose to do ombre dresses to make the bouquets very simple or it can be too much!

Some of these inspiration photos I have found are absolutely beautiful and I can’t wait to see more ombre weddings!

I know this trend isn’t for every bride but I would love to hear what you think about the ombre themed wedding!
