Wedding Colors 2013: Poppy Red!

Choosing your wedding colors can be tricky so it’s nice to have a little inspiration and advice on which colors are hot for the upcoming season.  Every year, Pantone Color Report comes out with the top ten colors for Spring and in 2013 two shades of blue are the top choices.

One of the colors that stood out to me is Poppy Red.   For the most part, the top ten colors are very conservative. Poppy Red is not too bold or bright making it a perfect choice for a Spring wedding.

One of the great things about Poppy Red is that it looks fabulous by itself.  There are not many colors that can stand alone but Poppy Red is one of them.  Look how striking and classically beautiful this color looks with a staple color like cream or black?

It also makes a great compliment to many other colors.  In fact, many colors on Pantone’s top ten list can be paired with Poppy Red.  The #1 color is Monaco Blue and this color is a great compliment with Poppy Red.

Also, look at pairing Poppy Red with Lemon Zest or African Violet.  Depending on the color you choose will totally change the look of the wedding.

One of my favorite color combination with Poppy Red is to pair it with Mint.  The mint and the poppy red is modern and has a wonderful vintage feel.

Fall Wedding Color Inspiration!

Happy November everybody!  Can you believe this year is almost over?? With the cold weather upon us and the leaves in all the beautiful colors beginning to fall off the trees I started thinking about Fall weddings.  Just so you know….I L-O-V-E Fall weddings!!! Everything about them is beautiful to me.  I think I just naturally gravitate to the warm color palette that the Fall lends itself to.  However when brides think of a Fall wedding they assume you have to use orange and brown wedding colors but trust me that is not true!! There are so many unbelievable color combinations that are perfect for a Fall wedding you may even change your wedding date just to use these colors! 😉

One color that is typically not thought of as a Fall color is yellow!  Using a deeper mustard yellow is amazing paired with gray or even paired with a burnt orange and hunter green.  Adding soft whites to both color combinations softens these colors palettes.

For a nontraditional Fall wedding try having an all white wedding with hints of peach and green.  Using Fall elements like apples, white pumpkins, and white gourds make this a perfect palette for a Fall wedding even though your are using a lighter color palette than traditionally used.

If you are a girly girl and love pink who says you can’t use pink at a Fall wedding? Just try pairing your favorite shade of pink with deeper red and burgundy toned flowers and accents.  Or try pairing pink with a mustard yellow and brown.  Also use Fall accessories, like white pumpkins, to accent the Fall wedding theme.

One of my favorite color palettes for a fall wedding is teal and burgundy.  It is such a rich and elegant color palette yet unique for the Fall.  You can even add  shades of purple to this color palette and it looks ah-amazing.

Blues are also a great Fall color.  Navy goes great with deep red, burgundy, and orange tones.

When choosing Fall colors don’t be afraid to think outside of the box and choose nontraditional Fall colors.  Using Fall accents or outdoor decor elements such as branches and leaves can completely change your wedding from Spring to Fall!

Wedding Colors Summer 2013: Pretty in Pink!!

The saying “Pink is my signature color” is one of my all time favorite movie lines and will ring true with many brides in 2013!  For my ultra feminine brides, pink is the perfect shade for almost any occasion and a wedding is no exception. In 2013 pink will be back with a vengeance being paired with many different colors to create a fresh new approach to using pink!

I have listed my top five fresh wedding color combinations that incorporate pink!

Pink and Green! This color combination has been around for a long time and still remains classic and beautiful.  If you are considering pink and green try changing the tone of pink from a deep or hot pink to a soft blush pink.  Or try pairing pink with a mint or even a deep moss green for a unique look!

Pink and Gray!  A new modern approach to pink is to pair it with gray.  Blush pink and gray give a soft, romantic color palette.

Deep pink mixed with a eclectic gray linen gives a cool modern look and feel to any decor.

Pink and Yellow!  Some brides are afraid of yellow.  Not many girls can wear yellow against their skin tones and if you are not careful it can wash out your bridesmaids in pictures.  That is why pink is a softer and more versatile color for the girls to wear.  Just pair their dresses with yellow bouquets for the perfect combination of pink and yellow!

Shades of Pink! My favorite pink color palette is to combine different shades of pink.  You can pair light and pink flowers together or use light flowers for the ceremony and gradually increase the deepness throughout the cocktail hour and reception!!
