Wedding Colors 2013: Gold!

Gold is back to stay!  Over the past few years, the color gold was rarely used in weddings and silver was the accent color of choice.  In 2013, you will see a shift from silver to gold.  The trend this year is back to modern elegance with chandeliers, large blooming flowers and of course gold.  Gold pairs well with most colors and some of these color combinations are so chic and beautiful you may end up choosing gold for your wedding! Here are some of my favorite color combinations using gold.

The color of the year is emerald green and it is the perfect compliment to gold. These rich tones lend itself to an elegant, opulent and rich looking affair made for an evening wedding.

If you like emerald green but want a softer color palette for Spring/Summer try another on trend color, mint green.  I am in love with everything mint green and gold richens this color combination to give the right amount of contrast.

Another color that pairs well with gold is pink.  My favorite shade of pink with gold is a blush pink which is romantic and classic.

For a brighter color palette than pink, try coral and gold! Love!  For an extra layer of color you can even throw in a little mint green for a stunning Summer color combination.

Purple is an on trend color for 2013 and most brides think silver is the perfect compliment.  Try gold to switch up the look and deepen the color palette.

Of course you can always go for an all white wedding with gold accents.  So classic and chic!

Wedding Colors 2013: African Violet

Are you looking for the perfect colors for your wedding?  Finding the right color combination can be a daunting task but taking a look at the fashion world for inspiration is a great place to start.  Every year Pantone comes out with its top trending colors for fashion and design.  This year one of those colors is African Violet.

One reason to look at all the Pantone Colors for 2013 is that many of these colors can be combined to create your perfect color palette.   African Violet is beautiful by itself especially paired with different shades of violet and purple.  Here are some African Violet inspiration boards to help you decide if this color is the right one for you!

Don’t be afraid to pair African Violet with one or two other Pantone colors.  This color looks stunning paired with Lemon Zest, Nectarine, Monaco Blue and even Poppy Red.

Wedding Colors 2013: Poppy Red!

Choosing your wedding colors can be tricky so it’s nice to have a little inspiration and advice on which colors are hot for the upcoming season.  Every year, Pantone Color Report comes out with the top ten colors for Spring and in 2013 two shades of blue are the top choices.

One of the colors that stood out to me is Poppy Red.   For the most part, the top ten colors are very conservative. Poppy Red is not too bold or bright making it a perfect choice for a Spring wedding.

One of the great things about Poppy Red is that it looks fabulous by itself.  There are not many colors that can stand alone but Poppy Red is one of them.  Look how striking and classically beautiful this color looks with a staple color like cream or black?

It also makes a great compliment to many other colors.  In fact, many colors on Pantone’s top ten list can be paired with Poppy Red.  The #1 color is Monaco Blue and this color is a great compliment with Poppy Red.

Also, look at pairing Poppy Red with Lemon Zest or African Violet.  Depending on the color you choose will totally change the look of the wedding.

One of my favorite color combination with Poppy Red is to pair it with Mint.  The mint and the poppy red is modern and has a wonderful vintage feel.
