Mantilla Veils are Back for 2013!

Vintage clothing never goes out of fashion! Although it may evolve and change over the years, vintage styles are the base from where all inspiration and fashion come from. In weddings, this is especially true.  One of my favorite vintage styles making a comeback in 2013 is the mantilla.  Take a look at Grace Kelly wearing a mantilla veil on her wedding day in 1956!

Mantillas are Spanish style veils.  What makes these veils stand out is that the are made from one piece of circular cut fabric.  There is no gathering at the top like a traditional veil and are made to lay flat against the top of the head.

Many of these veils are accented with lace around the edges and can be made with or without a blusher over the face.

Mantilla veils can come in a variety of lengths from shoulder to chapel length and are a perfect choice for showing off the back of an intricate wedding dress!

You can even choose to modernize your mantilla by adding gems and crystals. Who needs jewelry with a veil like this? Stunning!

What do you think about mantillas?  Would you wear one with your wedding dress?

Wedding Fashion for the Guys!

Wedding fashion for men has evolved over the years.  In the past, men wore traditional black and white tuxedos with bow ties and tails. The idea of not wearing a tuxedo was unheard of.   Over the past few years there has been an emergence of some pretty cool and original wedding fashion.  Men are embracing the idea of showing off their personality through their wedding attire.   I LOVE it!

When choosing a unique look for your guys, first think about how formal and/or traditional you want them to look.  Just changing from a tuxedo to a suit is an easy way to change their look.  Also, consider the color of the suit or tuxedo.  Anything but black will make your guys stand out from the traditional style.

You can even lose the jacket all together!  This is especially great for outside weddings in the spring and summer…trust me they will love you for this decision! Some guys are even trading the traditional vest for a sweater in the cooler months.

Don’t forget about their accessories!  If you still want a traditional suit try mixing it up with a patterned tie or bow tie.  Patterned socks are another fun way to change up their look. It also makes a great gift for the groomsmen!

Some guys are even wearing sneakers with their formal attire!

Wedding Day Nails!

On your wedding day you want to look at your best!  All eyes will be on you and your wedding day look. One thing easily forgotten about is your nails!! You will probably have more pictures of your hands than you may ever want or need to have again so you won’t want to forget about this tiny detail.

Many brides want a simple and natural nail.  If you want a natural nail you can kick it up a notch by adding some sparkle with glitter!

To highlight your new wedding ring finger you can use nail jewelry for a unique look!

Instead of a traditional french manicure try matching the pattern of your wedding gown!

To me, nails are one of the easiest ways to accessorize your wedding gown. Especially with a simple gown, bold nails are an easy and inexpensive way to change your look.

I love the idea of matching your nails to your flowers or match your nails to your wedding colors! L-O-V-E!

For a ultra bold look choose a design like polka dots or a chevron pattern to add to your wedding look.

Who doesn’t love a classic red nail?  It also looks great against the ivory/white of the wedding dress!

Don’t worry if you are out of ideas for your  “something blue” , just paint your nails blue!

Which nail do you like best?

Happy Planning!
