Edible DIY Favors Your Guest Will Love

I am always on the hunt for creative favors!  Most brides want a cute favor their guests will enjoy but don’t want to bust the budget in order to give them something nice.  One of the best ways to give an inexpensive favor is to make it yourself.  You can make a unique favor at a fraction of the cost.  Like in years past, one of the most popular favors guests receive are edible.   Why not combine the two ideas and make a tasty homemade treat as your wedding favor that won’t break the bank?  I have listed five edible DIY favors that I think your guests will love.

Donuts make a yummy gift for your guests and will be a big favor trend in 2013!   If you decide to buy donuts it can get quite expensive so making them on your own is a great option.  For an easier way to cook the donuts look at buying donut trays to fill the batter and bake them instead of frying them.  Just add some icing and sprinkles to finish the look.  Or make donut holes and just sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Another great DIY favor idea is to make your own jam or jelly.  Just put them in mini mason jars with some material and twine for a finished look. You can also make a cute label, tag or sign to let guests know they are homemade!

If you have a family recipe you want to share with your guests you can give them a cute recipe card and also include a jar of homemade tomato sauce or BBQ sauce to go with the recipe.

Infused sugar is another easy and beautiful choice for a wedding favor.  Choose different fruits or herbs to put inside the sugar and after time the sugar will taste like the fruit or herb.

Fun DIY Wedding Favors for 2013!

There are so many great wedding favor ideas!  Sometimes these little thank you gifts can turn in to a bigger expense than expected.  A great way to save some money is to make these favors yourself.  When choosing your favor the most important thing to remember is to make it personal to you and your fiance.  Here are a few ideas I ran across that I think are great favor ideas that you can not only make yourself but are useful or at least tasty treats for your guests!

I love Southern weddings and what is more southern than grits?  If you and your fiance love southern food why not give “Grits and Gratitude”?  You can order bags for the grits or even make them yourself.  Filled with grits and tied with a ribbon is an easy, adorable southern favor!

Another great Southern DIY favor is to give a late night snack favor with a Coke (perfect for an Atlanta wedding) and a home baked cookie.  I might even substitute the cookie for some peanuts!

Mason jars are always a great gift! You can even put your signature drink in them during the wedding and let your guests take them home!  Just order personalized decals and stick them to the mason jars for an instant favor!

In the summer use mason jars to make a DIY ice cream jar.  All you need is some rock salt, sugar, vanilla powder and creamer.  Make some cute tags to tie around the jar and a perfect favor for a hot summer wedding day!

If you are a green bride, I love the idea of personalized bags filled with seeds saying “May Good Things Grow”  so guests can make their own flower garden or herb garden.  Or look at making birdseed hearts for guests to hang from trees at their house.

Wedding Parasols!

Wedding parasols are a great addition to any outdoor wedding!  Parasols, or light umbrellas, are being used as the new go-to accessory.  Parasols are so versatile and can be used in many different ways.

The most obvious use for parasols is that they are great for a rainy wedding day! Getting married outside you know there is always a risk for rain, so why not roll with it and make it apart of the wedding.  Pack a few parasols and some rain boots and you are all set!

If you are getting married outside, wedding parasols are also a great way for you to beat the heat, especially here in Georgia.  One of my favorite ideas is to offer them to your guests for the ceremony.  It provides them some shade from the heat and helps to keep them out of the sun.

Another reason to have a parasol at your wedding is how much fun you can have with them for your pictures!  Look how gorgeous the lace parasol looks for the bride! And I love the cute pictures of the bride and all the bridesmaids with their parasols.

Not to mention the romantic photos with you and your groom!  You can even make your own parasol that says “thank you” and use that picture for your thank you cards to send later!

Lastly, parasols make great decoration.  Use them at the ceremony for some visual interest or hang them upside down at the reception for a touch of whimsy! Love it!
