Wedding Photography: Tips and Ideas for every bride

Wedding pictures are the most common cause of stress on wedding day. I have a few tips for every bride to follow to make sure that the least of their worries on wedding day is photography:

1. Hire a professional wedding photographer!!

If you do nothing else…take this advice! So many brides try to save money by hiring a friend to take pictures.  Trust me, you will be disappointed in the end.  Professional wedding photographers understand how quickly and efficiently they need to stage photos to get all of the shots you want without all the stress!

2. Be on Time!

Sounds easy, right?  This has to be the #1 reason for stress on the wedding day.  Make sure if you are having a makeup or hair stylist they do not leave you to do last!! Artists always run late (even with the best of intentions) so leave enough time to sip some champagne and relax while the rest of your girls are getting ready.

3. Make a list of your Top 5 shots!

Some brides create a long list of poses and ideas for pictures that even the most skilled photographer cannot accomplish in the time allotted.  If you make a list of the top 5 shots or ideas you can’t live without it will allow your photographer time to be creative while getting your “must-have” list accomplishedl!

I have included some of my favorite wedding photography picture ideas that you may want to add in to your Top 5 shots!

Anything involving jumping!! Whether it involved the bride and groom or the whole wedding party jumping shots are so much fun and a great expression of what an amazingly fun time you are having!

Funny shots of the guys!! Let your guys be creative and have fun with choosing how they express their excitement!

To show off your style and how awesome your choice of dresses and bouquets are; line up!

You can even have a bridal portrait taken of you with all of your girls in the background.  Beautiful!

Don’t forget about the shoes!! (or socks)

Anything involving flower girls is usually adorable but this idea is one of my all time faves!

Light up the night sky with sparklers!

I hope these ideas and advice have helped in staying stress free on your wedding day and given a little inspiration for those Top 5 shots!

Happy Planning!

Wedding Theme: Over the Rainbow!

With St. Patty’s day approaching I couldn’t think of a better wedding theme to feature than an “Over the Rainbow” theme.  If you can’t decide on your wedding colors why not use all the colors of the rainbow?  At first, you may be a little scared that a rainbow themed wedding would be cheesy.  I guess that depends on your taste and how far you want to take the theme.  I think small hints of rainbow can be beautiful and very romantic.

If you are having an “Over the Rainbow” theme the bridesmaid dresses, groomsmen attire and flowers are a great way to show off all the colors of the rainbow.

Have each bridesmaid choose a different color of the rainbow and choose coordinating bouquets.  I think it makes for original and standout pictures.

You can have the groomsmen match each girl with a different colored tie or just have the color they wear come out in their boutonnieres.

Since this theme has so many colors, I would suggest keeping the linens for the reception very simple.  That way the flowers can pop on the tables and speak for themselves.

The cake can be very traditional with a variety of rainbow colors once the cake is cut.  This makes for a great presentation for the guests.

A dessert or candy buffet is also a subtle yet great way to use your color scheme.

Obviously, I know this theme is not for every bride!! This theme has to fit your personality in order to work.  I just want to make sure you open your eyes to all of the wonderful themes and possibilities that can come out of one idea…..like the simple idea of a rainbow!

Happy Planning and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Unique Ways to Display Photographs at Your Wedding

A great way to make your wedding personal and intimate is to display personal photographs!  Of course you can use framed pictures and place them around your reception (some use pictures on a mantle, escort card table, etc) but I have found some creative ways you can display your pictures that all of your guests will love.

One idea is instead of using frames you place pictures in mason jars.

If you don’t like mason jars or that doesn’t fit the style of your wedding any glass vase will work and give the same look.  Or you can take the pictures and cut them to form a cool shape…like a circle or a heart.  So cute!

If you are having a vintage theme, plates with black and white photos are a fun way to display old photographs.

You can still use frames in different shapes and sizes and hang them with ribbon.  Love!

Another idea is to have someone take Polaroids (or you can rent a photo booth) and have guests hang their pictures during the event.  Not only does this look awesome but it also makes every guest a part of the celebration. Who doesn’t love that?

A few ideas I saw for displaying pictures in a home but I think these would also be great for a wedding! Frames and wire or ribbon make a beautiful display!
