One of the newest trends in weddings for 2014 is color blocking. Color blocking is “blocks” of solid colors put together. In 2014, you will see color blocking in everything from wedding fashion to wedding decor. When using bright colors this look can make a very a bold statement. Here are some of our favorite inspiration photos to help you create the perfect color blocked wedding.
Start off by finding the perfect color blocked invitation in your wedding colors.
My favorite way to use color blocking is with the bridesmaid dresses! Another hot trend is to have bridesmaids wear skirts. Choose a skirt in one color and a shirt in another to create your perfect color blocked combination.
If you don’t find the right bridesmaid dress, wear a fun color blocked shoe!
Use draping during the ceremony in solid bold colors to create the color blocked look.
For the reception tables, use the same vases with different colored flowers in each one. Or choose color blocked stationary and plates with the same color flowers.
You can’t have a color blocked wedding without carrying the same theme for the cake. We love these color blocked wedding cakes!
Themed weddings are one of the hottest trends for 2014! Themed weddings are lots of fun for the guests and done in the right way are far from cheesy! Lately, I have heard of more and more brides considering a Halloween themed wedding. At first, this theme may seem far from what you typically imagine when picturing a wedding, but with the right details it can be frightfully fantastic! Take a look at some of these inspiration photos for an elegant Halloween wedding!
One of the keys of having a Halloween wedding is to have fun and think outside of the box when deciding on decor. Try using yellow as a wedding color instead of orange/black!
Consider wearing a black sash or for a truly unique look wear a black wedding dress! Don’t forget about the guys. Love these matching Halloween socks!
To really set the spooky Halloween mood, try black and green wedding colors or even black and deep red!
We love Winter Weddings! There are so many reasons Winter weddings rock! One of the biggest reasons is how much money you can save by getting married in the “off season” since most venues and vendors are willing to offer better deals. I also love all of the decor elements that are only appropriate for a Winter wedding! The natural color palette is beautiful and add a little sparkle to pull it all together! Here are some of our favorite Winter wedding ideas you are sure to love!
Faux fur vests or jackets are a great accessory for the bride and bridesmaids for a Winter wedding. Not only will it keep you warm, but it looks chic and sophisticated.
Use natural elements for your bouquets, boutonnieres and centerpieces. I love using sticks, pine cones and leaves.
Another great natural element is cotton! How awesome is this cotton bouquet and boutonniere?
Build a fire pit for roasting marshmallows and making s’mores during the cocktail hour or wedding! To keep guests warm give them blankets!
Offer them hot chocolate, hot tea or apple cider during the ceremony or reception! I love having cinnamon sticks, whipped cream, candy canes or chocolate shavings for guests to add to their drinks!
