Wedding Trends: Chicken Wire

You may be wondering how chicken wire could ever be used at a wedding?  I have to admit I was questioning this trend too but just wait until you see some of these amazing ways that chicken wire can be used.  Once you look at some of these ideas it should clear any doubt you have.  Of course using chicken wire for your wedding decor is not for every bride but if you are having a rustic wedding or casual affair chicken wire may be the perfect decor item for you!

I love the idea of attaching chicken wire to a frame and using it as a holder for the place cards.   You can use the same idea and build a large wooden frame with chicken wire attached to make a dramatic and unique backdrop!

Take chicken wire and wrap it around to make a cone.  Add some flowers inside and these make simple DIY pew ends for the ceremony.

Any chicken wire basket or box can make a perfect card box or a great way to hold food during the reception.

Baskets can also make a great holder for flowers for a centerpiece on the guest tables!

Chicken wire wrapped around small glass vases or mason jars make beautiful votives when you put a candle inside.  You can even hang them to light up the ceremony or reception.

2013 Wedding Trend: Laser Cut

A new trend showing up at weddings this year are laser cut designs. Laser cut is an intricately cut out pattern resembling either lace or a geometric design.  You will see laser cut designs in everything from wedding stationary to wedding gowns.  These laser cut designs work perfectly for almost any wedding and especially work well for rustic or vintage weddings.

Laser cut designs in weddings started with the popularity of laser cut invitations.  A laser is used to cut these invitations in to intricate designs and some are placed over a colored card stock giving it a modern yet vintage look.  Laser cut stationary is becoming very popular and being seen in all types of wedding stationary from banners, signs, save the date cards and place cards.

As you can see there are many ways you can incorporate laser cut designs in to the details of your wedding.  You can find laser cut boxes for favors or laser cut runners for the tables.  You can even use luminary bags with a laser cut design as centerpieces!

Mantilla Veils are Back for 2013!

Vintage clothing never goes out of fashion! Although it may evolve and change over the years, vintage styles are the base from where all inspiration and fashion come from. In weddings, this is especially true.  One of my favorite vintage styles making a comeback in 2013 is the mantilla.  Take a look at Grace Kelly wearing a mantilla veil on her wedding day in 1956!

Mantillas are Spanish style veils.  What makes these veils stand out is that the are made from one piece of circular cut fabric.  There is no gathering at the top like a traditional veil and are made to lay flat against the top of the head.

Many of these veils are accented with lace around the edges and can be made with or without a blusher over the face.

Mantilla veils can come in a variety of lengths from shoulder to chapel length and are a perfect choice for showing off the back of an intricate wedding dress!

You can even choose to modernize your mantilla by adding gems and crystals. Who needs jewelry with a veil like this? Stunning!
