Wedding Colors 2013: It’s “Mint” to Be

The color mint is sweeping the bridal scene for 2013! With the popularity of vintage fashion, mint has become a favorite among designers and brides. One of the reasons I love the color mint is that it coordinates perfectly with so many colors. You can pair mint with a soft or bold color to give a completely different look. It is a strong enough color to be used on its own, but not overpowering that you can’t use it with other bold colors.

One way to use mint is to use the color mint alone giving off a modern yet vintage look.

A great coordinating color for mint is peach especially if you enjoy a vintage wedding.

If you want to kick it up a notch try using coral instead of peach or a combination of both colors.

Another great color combination is mint and pink with touches of gold.

You can even add a splash of turquoise to deepen the color palette.

For a Spring or Summer wedding you can pair mint with yellow. This gives off a cheery, vibrant look and feel.

Winter is upon us, and one of my favorite color combinations is using mint and red. It is a beautiful, unique color palette for a Winter Wedding.

Wedding Colors 2013: Poppy Red!

Choosing your wedding colors can be tricky so it’s nice to have a little inspiration and advice on which colors are hot for the upcoming season.  Every year, Pantone Color Report comes out with the top ten colors for Spring and in 2013 two shades of blue are the top choices.

One of the colors that stood out to me is Poppy Red.   For the most part, the top ten colors are very conservative. Poppy Red is not too bold or bright making it a perfect choice for a Spring wedding.

One of the great things about Poppy Red is that it looks fabulous by itself.  There are not many colors that can stand alone but Poppy Red is one of them.  Look how striking and classically beautiful this color looks with a staple color like cream or black?

It also makes a great compliment to many other colors.  In fact, many colors on Pantone’s top ten list can be paired with Poppy Red.  The #1 color is Monaco Blue and this color is a great compliment with Poppy Red.

Also, look at pairing Poppy Red with Lemon Zest or African Violet.  Depending on the color you choose will totally change the look of the wedding.

One of my favorite color combination with Poppy Red is to pair it with Mint.  The mint and the poppy red is modern and has a wonderful vintage feel.

Five Favorite Wedding Hairstyles for 2013

One of the hardest decisions you will have to make, besides choosing your wedding dress, is choosing which hairstyle is right for you!  With so many different hairstyles available it can be a challenging decision. When choosing a hairstyle, consider not only the length of your hair but the style of your dress.  Is it romantic, traditional, or modern?  Try and choose a hairstyle that compliments the dress and you!  I have chosen my top five hairstyles for 2013 to help in your search.

Bun

Buns are back and I am super excited!  There are many ways to wear a bun on your wedding day.  I love a great side bun, chignon or the newest hairstyle the top knot.  The top knot is basically a bun at the crown of the head typically with a more “messy” look but can also be worn in a more structured way.

French Twist

Another traditional hairstyle back for 2013 is the french twist. This hairstyle is still such a beautiful and classic way to wear your hair or wear it messy for a modern twist.

Vintage

Anything vintage for weddings is hot, hot, hot! I have always had a soft spot for a beautiful vintage hairstyle.  You can’t really go wrong choosing any hairstyle from the1920’s!

Down Waves

Many brides are choosing to forgo the traditional up do and wear their hair down with beautiful waves.  This look is modern and beautiful.

Braids/Waterfall Braid

Braids have been popular for weddings in 2012 and remain a great hairstyle for 2013.  A side braid, fishtail braid, or my new favorite is the waterfall braid.  You get to wear your hair down with waves but add a little twist to the back. L-O-V-E!
