The Best Wedding App!

While looking at some of my favorite wedding blogs (other than this one ;)) I kept reading about a wedding app designed for engaged couples. The app that everyone in the wedding industry is talking about is called Appy Couple.  I did a little of my own research and I am very excited about this unique mobile wedding app to help you share your wedding with family and friends.

The best part of this app is how easy it is to use.  You pay a setup fee and then your guests (no matter how many guests you have) can download the app for free.  Don’t worry if all of your guests don’t have a Smartphone, Appy Couple gives you a free coordinating wedding website.

I am in love with all of the designs and you can customize everything to coordinate with your wedding colors and theme. This app includes all the information guests will need for the wedding including your wedding registry, travel arrangements and things to do in the area.   The app also allows you to send instant updates, pictures, or personal messages to guests about the wedding. Guests can even RSVP to the wedding directly on the app…how cool is that??

This app is like a wedding website where you can share stories on how you and your fiance met or inspiration for theme of the wedding.  One of my favorite parts of the app is that you can update bridal party on events like luncheons and rehearsal dinner times, etc.

Check it out for yourself!! The Appy Couple is for Iphone, Ipad and Web and Android Market will be coming soon!

Happy Planning!

Unique Table Runners

If you are looking for a quick and easy way to bring some color and texture to your reception tables you may want to consider a table runner!

Table runners are a great way to accentuate your centerpieces as well as make your guest tables unique! Table runners are traditionally long pieces of fabric, but brides are using their awesome creativity to make their own runner out of all sorts of materials!  Here are some of my favorite ideas!

I have mentioned before you can use wallpaper for aisle runners and this is also a great choice for a DIY table runner!! I love wallpaper and all the fun and creative ways you can use it for weddings!  It comes in so many different fabrics and colors that you can choose a pattern that fits your wedding perfectly.

If you or your fiance love to read or write you can use pieces of pages from books to make a runner.  Or use old typewriter paper rolled out.  You can even type words on the paper every so often to make it more unique!

For an “outdoorsy” wedding you can use materials found in nature, like moss.  You can also use wood or burlap as a table runner.

For a vintage themed wedding you can use different sizes of doilies.

Or use strips of ribbon and lace as your table runner! How simple and elegant?

And if budget is no object, just use flowers like hydrangeas as your table runner! Wow…look how it falls off the table on to the floor!

Do you have a creative table runner idea that wasn’t mentioned?  Let us know!

Wedding Day Emergency Kit

If you are getting married and didn’t hire a wedding planner, you should prepare a wedding day emergency kit.  With the right tools this kit will have everything you need in case an “emergency” arises.  I have made a list of the most common items wedding planners bring. You can always buy a pre-made kit, but I think the best kits are the ones you make yourself!

You can use a tool box, bag or makeup case to hold all of your must have items. Just make sure whatever you choose has enough compartments to keep everything organized and readily found in case you need them. Many of these can be found in trial size which is less expensive than the regular size.

Scissors
Sewing kit (needles and thread in black/white)
Thread  (color of bridesmaid dresses)
Safety pins
Floral Straight pins
Lint Roller
Fashion tape
Floral tape
Spray Deodorant
Baby Powder (great for inside of legs so don’t rub or on wedding dress stains like red wine, ink or lipstick)
Denatured Rubbing Alcohol/ Cotton Swab
Hairspray
Bobby pins
Tums
Tylenol
Pads/ Tampons
Ivory Ribbon (in case you need to make a bouquet or boutonniere)
Benadryl
Smelling Salts
Tide To-Go Pen
Peppermints (great for fresh breath and calms nausea)
Bandaids
Extra garter belt
Earring backs
Batteries (AA and AAA)
Sandpaper (slippery shoe bottoms)
Comb and Mirror
Tissues (all those moments that make you cry)
Tweezers
Static Cling or dryer wipes

These items may not solve every problem that arises but will help ease some of the unexpected incidents.  A wedding planner may carry more items (like the bag below) but the items listed are the most commonly used.

If you have other items in your emergency bag we would love to hear about it!
