As our brides get closer to their wedding days, there are a lot of last minute details and additions that pop up! Perhaps the most common question that we get during the last few months of the planning is “what are the dimensions of the aisle walkway outside and where should I get an aisle runner for it?” Well, the easiest and most common answer would be to go to Michael’s or Hobby Lobby and pick up one of those thin aisle runners that is seemingly made out of paper. However, I cringe to give this answer because I know it is not the best option for your ceremony. While these aisle runners are fairly in-expensive, they are not very practical. Because of the quality and material, they tend to be a bit hazardous. So many times I have seen a bride’s heals get caught in the material and almost trip…YIKES!
So, what are your options for an aisle runner that is both beautiful, practical and cost efficient? The first option is to line the aisle with a lush amount of rose petals (weather down the center of the aisle or heavy down the sides of the aisle). The second option is a custom aisle runner made out of a durable, heavy matte-like material that is usually custom designed with your monogram and colors. This option can be quiet expensive! The third option which is all about this blog in WALLPAPER…that’s right, I said wallpaper!!! I know it sounds weird at first but it is such a fantastic and innovative way to create your own custom aisle runner without the expensive price tag! Just think of how many colors, patterns and textures of wallpapers there are. I wanted to share these fabulous possibilities with you!
Be sure to measure the aisle where your ceremony will take place carefully. Once you order or pick out your wallpaper, it may be a good idea to have it professionally cut!
