Ceremony Tosses

Tossing of the rice at the happy new couple is an olldddddd tradition, symbolizing abundance and fertility.  There are plenty of new ways to do it and it is something that almost every newlywed couple wants as their departure.

You have probably heard that raw rice grains are harmful to bird, even though some say that’s a complete myth… Even so, rice may not be the best choice for tossing because it can be slippery and difficult and annoying to clean up. Here are some better alternatives:

Hydrangeas
Fill sheer fabric pouches with tiny hydrangea blooms or petals from other seasonal flowers and finish the pouches with a cute little ribbon.

  • Try tossing seasonal blooms or their petals.  Remove stems from the blossoms, and have bridesmaids carry baskets of them. That way guests can reach in and grab handfuls to toss!

Sparklers
A festive way to close a wedding ceremony is to light sparklers as the bride and groom leave the site.

  • These can also be used as favors for the guests at an evening wedding, where they can be given out along with printed matchboxes or matchbooks. Tape a sparkler to the back of each matchbox to keep them from sliding about, and tie with a ribbon.

Bubbles
These small bubble bottles are made specifically for weddings. The bubbles look adorable floating around the bride and groom, both in person and in photographs.

Ahh-mazing hairpieces…

My latest find are these gorgeous ban.do wedding hairpieces. O-M-G, I am in love<3. They are elegant and have this beautttiifullll retro vibe. The beest part is they are moderately priced at around $150.

This would look great by it self during the ceremony or even paired with your veil. BUT, with something this pretty, you don’t even need a veil..

Trash your wedding dress!

There is a new trend lurking around.. Not for the faint of heart…

Trash your wedding dress.          Wait did you say trash your dress? Yes I did.

Mmmkay so let’s face it.. Your daughter is not really going to wear your wedding dress 25 years from now (ok well maybe she will..haha).  So another option of using that special dress (and getting to wear it ONE more time!) is have a whole seperate day for yet another photoshoot, starring you.

The added bonus is, not only can you stop worrying about detracting from the actual wedding day, but you can have actually have fun (no chin-down-tilt-your-face-to-the-left-fingers-together-crap, today)!

Go somewhere different~ If you like cemetaries, go run around that; or if beaches or lakes or more your thing, get an awesome shoot with you floating in the water:) Or do a photoshoot at your first date, whether its a  restaurant, a drive in movie theater, or whatever…. Think about this: How cute would pictures of you and your new hubby eating at your favorite sushi restaurant be?? Umm people might look but dang, it would be cute!
