Something Blue

Every bride wants to make sure they have their “something old, something new and something blue” to wear on their wedding day.  Sometimes the “something blue” can be the hardest thing to decide on.  Brides in 2012 are coming up with some fun and unique ways to incorporate their something blue. Here are a few of those ideas.

One of my favorite ideas is to wear blue hair accessories. You can decide to make a bold statement by using a blue flower or clip (think Carrie in Sex in the City the movie with the blue feather in her hair) or a more simple statement by using a hair barrette.

Many brides in 2012 will be using their shoes as their “something blue”. You can choose to wear all blue shoes, blue soles or even choose to put a blue ” I Do” sticker on the bottom of your shoes.

A great idea is to have all of your bridal party write their well wishes on the bottom of your shoes in blue.  Such a great keepsake!

Jewelry is always a great way to wear blue on your wedding day!

If you want something bold and different, you can even have blue crinoline put under your dress or wear blue eyeshadow!

You can never go wrong with a classic blue stitched handkerchief or blue brooch.  These small items are perfect to tie around or attach to your bridal bouquet.

If you want your “something blue” to be subtle you can have a blue monogram of your new initials and wedding date sewn in to the dress!

Lastly, you can always wear blue lingerie or garter belt!

I hope these ideas have helped you decide on your “something blue”! If you have a new way to incorporate blue in to your wedding we would love to hear about it!

Happy Planning!

Teal and Pink Wedding Colors

I have a confession…I have never been a huge fan of pink at weddings.  My distaste for pink probably comes from seeing so many overdone pink weddings. I have seen brides use pink everywhere…..pink linens, pink dresses, pink lights, pink flowers (you get the picture) but I have to admit I am in love with pink paired with teal.  It is a fabulous color combination for a garden, beach or formal affair!

When choosing pink and teal for your wedding colors I would also suggest choosing a white or ivory to soften such a bold color combination.

If you are having a more formal affair, lighting in a soft pink or even teal will add glamour to the reception.

Look how changing the boldness of the pink completely changes the “feel” for the wedding?  So vintage and beautiful!

You can even throw in hints of purple and red in the flowers to give it a different look.

It even looks ah-mazing to use green accents (like the below vases) as a complimentary color to the teal and pink!

These gorgeous invitations are the perfect way to show off your color scheme before the wedding!

What do you think of pink and teal for wedding colors?  We would love to hear your comments!

Convertible Bridesmaid Dresses

Convertible dresses are dresses that can be worn many different ways (halter, crisscross, off the shoulder, one shoulder, etc.) and are the new “perfect” choice for bridesmaids to wear in 2012!

Picking bridesmaids dresses is never an easy job.  Many times you are trying to pick one dress that flatters all of your girls’ body types and comes in a color that compliments your wedding….almost impossible (or it may feel that way)!  Convertible dresses are a great way to give your bridesmaids a little choice in what they wear by being able to choose the tie that they like and also makes it easier for you to choose a dress!

Two Birds has amazing bridesmaid dresses that can be tied 15 different ways and are available in 4 different lengths. These dresses are a little pricey ranging from $270-310 but it is such a versatile dress that there is no doubt in my mind that they can wear it again.  Depending on the style of dress, they come in up to 20 different colors and can even be two-toned (top one color and the bottom another).

The Dessy Group also offers a convertible dress starting at $140 and can be either short or long, tied 7 different ways and can come in up to 28 different colors.

I love the fact that your bridesmaids can now wear a more conservative tie for the ceremony and then spice it up for the reception.  You can let your bridesmaids choose how they want to wear their dress so they feel comfortable wearing the tie that not only flatters their body but they feel confident in.

What do you think about these convertible dresses?
