Flowergirl Accessories!

Everyone looks forward to seeing the flower girl walk down the aisle during the wedding ceremony….not only because they know she walks down right before the bride but also because flower girls are so darn cute! There are so many great accessories for flower girls that will make your flower girl unique and even cuter….if that’s possible!

I love hair accessories; especially for flowergirls!   One of my favorite hair accessories is a floral halo to wear in her hair which gives a beautiful soft angelic look.  If your flower girl is young she may not wear a halo on her head so be prepared with a headband or single flower for her hair in case she wants to pull it off.

A trend I am totally loving right now is for flowergirls to wear a tutu for the wedding.  Adorable!

In a traditional ceremony, the flower girls carry a basket of petals and drop the petals down before the bride walks down.  If you want something a little different or may have a young flower girl that will probably forget to drop the petals, there are some fun alternatives for them to carry.  These are also great alternatives if you are getting married in a church or a home that does not allow you to drop fresh petals down the aisle.

Pomander Balls are the new flower girl basket with a twist!  They are also easy to make yourself.  They can be made out of so many different materials including many types of flowers like orchids and carnations as well as paper and pinecones!  Just a note…don’t be fooled by the size of the pomander ball….it does take quite a few flowers and materials to make one pomander ball!

Some other great accessories flower girls can carry are floral purses, mini bouquets and even wands!

If you decide to have kids in your wedding ceremony you have to know they can be a little unpredictable but no matter what happens guests will love oooo’ing and aahhh’ing over them.

Lantern Release for Wedding Farewell!

I think every bride and groom hope for a memorable departure from their reception.  Most couples opt for a traditional farewell of bubbles, rose petals or even sparklers but this past October a Glendalough Manor couple had a unique and fun way for guests to say their farewells and I just had to share this idea with you!

Lauren and Adam Matthews released lanterns right before they left the reception and not only did Stephanie Hamlet capture some beautiful photographs of the lantern release but it was also a very memorable moment for the bride and groom and all of their guests. The bride said it was “one of her favorite parts of the wedding”.

I found some eco friendly lanterns on wishlantern.com that are 100% biodegradable.  They are non-flammable and easy for your guests to use.  They will fly for about 12 minutes and go up about a mile high in the sky and the white lanterns are a stunning display when released by all of your guests at the same time.

An idea I absolutely love is to have your guests write a “wish” for you and your groom on the lantern itself and on the personalized tags.  The tags can be kept as a keepsake from the wedding!

Hope you like this ideas as much as I did! Happy Planning!

Unique Save the Dates!

Saves the Dates are my favorite piece of wedding stationary!  You can be super creative with your save the dates and the best part is that you don’t have to be as formal (like your wedding invitations).  You can give your guests a sneak peak at the date and time but also give them a clue in to your wedding and/or personalities!

I love handmade save the dates!  You can take your own pictures or make your own cards to send and I promise your guests will love them and appreciate the time you put in to make them.  Make sure to put that the invitation will follow and if you have a wedding website I would list that along with the date.  All of the details can be listed on your website(where guests can stay, location of ceremony and reception, where you are registered, etc) without having to include this information on the card.

For my wedding, I did Valentines themed Save the Dates…my wedding was in August so February was a perfect time to send them out.  I made handmade Valentines’ day cards and got calls from almost everyone I sent one to telling me how cute they were.

If you and your fiance love music then this music inspired save the date would fit your personalities perfectly,

Creating your own banner or sign and taking a picture of you and your fiance is a great save the date.  Be creative with it!  My favorite is the photobooth strip!

Or make a miniature banner to include in your save the date cards…how adorable is that?

My new obsession with wedding is balloons…yes balloons..but not used the way they used to be!! They are great for save the date pictures and look at this great save the date idea!

I hope these ideas spark your creativity to come up with your own personal and unique save the dates!

Happy Planning!
