The Best Wedding App!

While looking at some of my favorite wedding blogs (other than this one ;)) I kept reading about a wedding app designed for engaged couples. The app that everyone in the wedding industry is talking about is called Appy Couple.  I did a little of my own research and I am very excited about this unique mobile wedding app to help you share your wedding with family and friends.

The best part of this app is how easy it is to use.  You pay a setup fee and then your guests (no matter how many guests you have) can download the app for free.  Don’t worry if all of your guests don’t have a Smartphone, Appy Couple gives you a free coordinating wedding website.

I am in love with all of the designs and you can customize everything to coordinate with your wedding colors and theme. This app includes all the information guests will need for the wedding including your wedding registry, travel arrangements and things to do in the area.   The app also allows you to send instant updates, pictures, or personal messages to guests about the wedding. Guests can even RSVP to the wedding directly on the app…how cool is that??

This app is like a wedding website where you can share stories on how you and your fiance met or inspiration for theme of the wedding.  One of my favorite parts of the app is that you can update bridal party on events like luncheons and rehearsal dinner times, etc.

Check it out for yourself!! The Appy Couple is for Iphone, Ipad and Web and Android Market will be coming soon!

Charitable Ways to Give Back at Your Wedding

Are you looking for ways to give back but unsure how?  Well, why not use your wedding as a time to help others?   I have provided a list of some of my favorite ways you can give back and I think you will be surprised at how easy and simple it is to help others in need.

I wanted to share an amazing organization called the I Do Foundation that helps brides give back in a chic and unique way.  One of the easiest ways you can give back is to create a gift registry on their website. This wedding registry will allow guests to shop for your favorite items at stores like Macy’s and Target and other partnered stores who will donate a percentage of every sale to your selected charity.

Or you can ask guests in lieu of gifts to donate directly to a charity of your choice directly through a charity registry on the I Do Foundation website.

A new and creative way to give back is to give your bridal attendants TheGiveNow card which is a gift card that they are able to donate to the charity of their choice!

Brides Against Breast Cancer is a fund raising event to raise money for programs for cancer patients and their families. You can donate gently used wedding gowns or if you haven’t found your wedding dress you can buy one of these gowns to contribute to the cause.  Brides Against Breast Cancer will be selling gowns in Atlanta from April 13-15th.  Check website for more information.   www.bridesagainstbreastcancer.org

Or you can donate your dress to Brides Across America. They are a charitable organization that helps unite military brides and bridal salons in an effort to support our troops and their families.  Thanks Catina, a Glendalough Manor bride, for giving me this info!

Your bridesmaids can even get in on giving back by donating their dresses, shoes, jewelry to Donate My Dress to help give teens free dresses and accessories for Prom to those who cannot afford them.

You can also donate your leftover food and flowers after the wedding. There are many local rescue organizations that could benefit from leftover food. Also, it is nice to bring flowers to local nursing homes or assisted living communities.

Another great way to make an impact is to find a local service project in your area and have guests donate their time in lieu of gifts for your bridal shower. You can even plan a service project on your honeymoon.  Go to Just Give to find opportunities in your area.

I hope these ideas have inspired you to give back in some way.  If you have a creative way to give back we would love to hear about it.

Lantern Release for Wedding Farewell!

I think every bride and groom hope for a memorable departure from their reception.  Most couples opt for a traditional farewell of bubbles, rose petals or even sparklers but this past October a Glendalough Manor couple had a unique and fun way for guests to say their farewells and I just had to share this idea with you!

Lauren and Adam Matthews released lanterns right before they left the reception and not only did Stephanie Hamlet capture some beautiful photographs of the lantern release but it was also a very memorable moment for the bride and groom and all of their guests. The bride said it was “one of her favorite parts of the wedding”.

I found some eco friendly lanterns on wishlantern.com that are 100% biodegradable.  They are non-flammable and easy for your guests to use.  They will fly for about 12 minutes and go up about a mile high in the sky and the white lanterns are a stunning display when released by all of your guests at the same time.

An idea I absolutely love is to have your guests write a “wish” for you and your groom on the lantern itself and on the personalized tags.  The tags can be kept as a keepsake from the wedding!

Hope you like this ideas as much as I did! Happy Planning!
