Trend Alert: Cardigans

Choosing a wedding or bridesmaid dress for a Fall wedding can be a little tricky.  Especially in the South you never know how cold the weather will be and it can be difficult finding a bridal gown or a bridesmaid dress with sleeves.  A Fall trend I love is to wear a cardigan instead of wearing a shawl or a jacket to keep you warm.  Cardigans come in many different styles and are lightweight and comfortable.  Plus, unlike a matching jacket or shawl, they can be worn again!

If you like a particular bridesmaid dress but want each girl to look a little different try putting your girls in colorful cardigans.

Another twist on the same dress is to pair with the same color cardigan but different styles for each girl.

Or have girls pick their own dresses in the same color and pair with a colorful cardigan.

My favorite idea is to take a plain dress and pair it with a patterned cardigan like below.

Brides are also joining in on this cardigan trend! Love the pop of color!

What do you think of this cardigan trend?  Should brides join this trend or do you think it’s better for bridesmaids?

Bridesmaid Dress Trends for 2013: Illusion Necklines

Showing up on fashion runways all over are designs featuring illusion necklines.  The bridal industry has been no exception to this fashion trend.  Throughout 2012 and 2013 bridal gowns are being made with illusion necklines and, to my delight, are now showing up in bridesmaid gowns.

If you are still wondering what an illusion neckline is, you are probably not alone.   An illusion neckline is a sheer piece of fabric that lays over a gown giving the appearance of a high neckline but with a hint of skin showing through.

In my opinion this takes a dress from simple to stunning and shows off a little skin without showing too much!

You want your bridesmaids to look beautiful and feel amazing and this style dress just may be the perfect balance for your girls.  Brides want to ditch the traditional strapless dress and an illusion neckline gives a strapless dress a twist.

Lace dresses are another trend for 2013 in bridesmaid dresses. I love the pairing of a lace bridesmaid dress with an illusion neckline!

Even the flower girl dresses are being made with illusion necklines to match the bridesmaids!  How cute is this?

A Touch of Sparkle: Sequined Bridesmaid Dresses

If you want to add some sparkle to your wedding, why not have your bridesmaids shine in sequined bridesmaid dresses?  Bridesmaids dresses have evolved over the years and are getting better and better. The newest trend in bridesmaid dresses is sequins and I am in L-O-V-E with these sequin gowns!

Choosing a floor length all sequin dress will give you a dramatic look.  These dresses make a bold statement in all sequins but stay classic with the silhouette.

Or choose a gown with only touches of sequins for a less dramatic look.  Be careful when choosing sequin gowns that you choose the right silhouette especially when choosing a short bridesmaid dress.  If it is too short or showy it won’t look classy.

I  love the idea of wearing a belt over a sequin dress to match the wedding colors!

What do you think about these sequin wedding gowns?  Should this trend stay or go?

Leave us your thoughts!

Happy Planning!
